The Buren on Van Buren

Well…well…well…

I do want to say this first and foremost:

I’m sick of all these new coffee/pastry shops in the neighborhood. It’s quite excessive at this point and also a bit lack luster.

But what I CAN say about The Buren is that they know how to keep a crowd. After church crowds, after work crowds, we’re tired of being home crowds, I just need to finish this project by noon crowd. All the crowds! It’s a spot where you can sit and be there all day. All the food is good enough to brag too. They also have good pastries and cafe drinks. Can't complain here!

It’s not just your ordinary gentrified neighborhood cafe spot either. Each day has a different evening event. Whether it be poetry night, jazz night, comedy night, or whatever…you’ll be sure to enjoy your time here.

Sundays are what I’m here for. They serve fish and grits on Sundays and I had it two Sundays in a row. The grits were so good I had to leave my plate mid-chew and go to the counter to compliment the chef. It’s ridiculous how good the grits are. The fish too! Whew! I can do this every day honestly. For now though, I’ll settle on just doing it on Sundays.
